NOV. 3, 2018 | Over the last four weeks, we’ve traveled more than 3,500 miles, visited 12 states and interviewed 130 people. Our last day on the, ahem, hard road was in and around West Chester, Penn., where we met seasoned public policy strategist Eric Schnurer, an opinion contributor to U.S. News and World Report.

DAY 23: Gettysburg
NOV. 2, 2018 | Just over two weeks before then 155th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s short Gettysburg Address that describes America’s national purpose, the crew visited the battlefield that had the largest number of casualties during the American Civil War.
“Matter of Fact” again interviews Hawker about elections
Bruce Hawker joins Stan Grant on ABC Australia’s “Matter of Fact” from Pittsburgh following the massacre of Jewish worshipers at a synagogue in Squirrel Hill. They discussed to the divided nature of the current U.S. political climate and the reaction of the people of Pittsburgh to a visit from President Donald Trump to offer his condolences.
DAY 22: From blight to Amish country
NOV. 1, 2018 | The effects of thousands and thousands of job losses came into focus in Monessen, Penn., where decaying buildings and blight fill a once-vibrant downtown. Later on this gray day, the crew traveled to Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa., to talk with a respected pollster about what’s happening across the country.
DAY 21: Pittsburgh mourns
OCT. 31, 2018 | Days after the horrific murder of 11 people in a Pittsburgh synagogue, people continued to mourn, offering flowers, candles, hand-written signs and more.
DAY 20: Peaceful protest in Pittsburgh
OCT. 30, 2018 | More than 3,000 people in Pittsburgh marched this afternoon in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood to protest a visit by President Donald Trump after a Saturday massacre of 11 worshipers at a prominent synagogue.
